1. Who are we?
El Consorci per a la Promoció Turística de les Valls del Montcau is a local entity created in November 1999 thanks to the initiative of the town councils of Mura, Navarcles, Pont de Vilomara i Rocafort, Sant Fruitós de Bages and Talamanca. Those are five towns on the southeast of the comarca named Bages between the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac and the Llobregat river, all of them with distinct socio-cultural and economical particularities.
On the one hand, in the area of the Natural Park, near the comarca named Vallès Occidental, exist the municipalities of rural tradition: Mura, Talamanca and the centre of Rocafort, added later to the municipality of Pont de Vilomara. On the other, on the river Llobregat bank, in the pla del Bages, we can find the municipalities of Navarcles, Pont de Vilomara and Sant Fruitós de Bages; those places have developed a more industrial economy, of which the textile is the most significant.
These municipalities created the Consorci, to develop the local economy through tourism and to promote together the territory of all five towns with the tourist label of "Valls del Montcau". As a whole, there is a number of natural interests as the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac, and an architectural heritage of historical and cultural interest, of which stands out the Monastery of Sant Benet de Bages. The growth of leisure time and services is the motor and at the same time the result of the tourist promotion of the Valls del Montcau.
2. What do we do?
To strengthen our role as an entity that gathers the diferent agents of the tourist activity in the territory, both public and private.
To produce more sustainable quality economical activities.
To support the tasks of town councils and other administrations regarding the promotion of economical activities.
To work for the improvement of the corporative image and the creation of the tourist label “Valls del Montcau” and the spreading of the information.
To work to maintain a net of communications connecting all the municipalities of the Consorci with the neighbouring municipalities and to create attractive tourist routes for the visitor.
